Disasters in Taiwan highlight country's safety problem

In the past year, Taiwan has been hit by a string of deadly disasters, including two plane crashes, a chemical blast, a fire that killed six fire fighters and, in June, an explosion at a water park.
These are not simply accidents. Behind each case, accident investigators found either an error of judgment, a law violation, or negligence was to blame.
In some of the cases, existing safety laws had simply been ignored.
